Nancy Fogg-Johnson, Ph.D. is a Principal in Technology and Business Ventures, Inc. and a founder of Life•Sciences•Alliance, a consortium of consultants. Both firms specialize in science and technology assessment and commercialization, new product development and marketing for food, supplement, personal care, pharmaceutical and ag-biotech industries.

Prior to forming her consulting firm, Ms. Fogg-Johnson was Executive Vice President of Administration at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, where she headed licensing/business development, finance, legal and other operational components of this basic biomedical institute with research programs in immunology, genetics of cancer, vaccines and nutrition.

Dr. Fogg-Johnson held two vice-president positions at Bayer Corporation (formerly Miles). She was Vice President of New Business for the Consumer Healthcare Products Division, with responsibility for marketing, marketing research, medical affairs, strategic planning, regulatory affairs and acquisitions and licensing for North America. Prior to these responsibilities, she held the position of Vice President, Research Development and Quality Assurance of the Haarman and Reimer Food Ingredients Division (formerly, Biotechnology Products Division).

Before joining Bayer, Ms. Fogg-Johnson served as Vice President Basic Science at Campbell Soup and Vice President Research Development and Quality Assurance for the Grocery Company of Nabisco Brands. Her early career included positions at A.E. Staley Manufacturing in basic research with soy protein, and at Central Soya as Director of Product Development and Quality Assurance for their institutional food subsidiary.

Ms. Fogg-Johnson received her B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Massachusetts, her M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition and Food Science from Kansas State University, and her M.S. in Business Administration from Columbia University.

Dr. Fogg-Johnson is a founder of Efficas, Inc., a nutraceutical discovery company, and is a founder and board member of NutraGenomics, the science-based nutritional genomics company. She is a member of the advisory board of the Nutraceuticals Capital Fund, a Burrill & Company venture investment fund and serves on the Advisory Board for the Department of Food Science at the University of Massachusetts. She serves as a member and chair of the scientific advisory committee for Vector Communications, an advertising and public relations firm with a client focus in genomics and bioinformatics. She is active in several professional associations and committees dealing with emerging science in functional foods, personalized nutrition and health and wellness, including serving as an author of the Institute of Food Technology Position Paper on Functional Foods: Opportunities & Challenges. She is the author of several publications dealing with the emerging scientific and commercial landscape of genomics, functional foods, and wellness and health.
